Plan B & Spring Cleaning
Yesterday took a turn from my original plans. In a nutshell…got a call from school and told my 17 y/o may have a broken arm…by the time he was picked up it was better and he was able to move it…he felt sore but like it would be ok. (Going to the Doctor later today to make sure tho…he is still sore this morning but was up to going to school.)
Yesterday was also my Moms bday. My plans to see her earlier in the day were bumped til later due to my sons injury. So by almost 3pm I was hungry hungry…made a poor choice and grabbed a cheeseburger and iced tea from McD’s and my daughter and youngest son headed out with me to see my Mom. We ended up going to dinner last night with my parents to celebrate. I could have made better choices but also could have made much worse. I still need to tally up my calories. By the time we got home last night it was too late to walk.
I am a person who likes to know the plan…I do much better when my day…my life goes as its “supposed” to. I admire people who can roll with it…adapt just fine when plans change last minute. That’s not me. When things like yesterday happen I almost went into a panic…I wanted to eat as soon as I knew he was hurt…I was waiting for a call from Jeff to know what I needed to do about our other boys and waiting is also something I don’t do well. While I did not eat then…my choices later with eating out and later than intended are where I fell. I think it would benefit me to have a Plan B…Backup plan for WHEN things go wrong or off schedule because I know by now that’s how life works. I guess I keep hoping life will see it my way and say, ya know…a planned day goes much more smoothly for you Debbi…I will do it your way…yeah…wishful thinking. So, I need a backup plan…a FLEXIBLE plan for when things go the way they do.
The weather is absolutely gorgeous today…Im waiting for it to warm up enough and going to open the windows. Time for Spring Cleaning over the next couple days. I do so much better when the windows are up and the music is on. Think I may start by spraying outside around the windows for the spiders…they want to share my home with me and that is not ok…spiders not welcome here.
So while I begin my cleaning I will be thinking of ways to be more flexible and more prepared when things change from the original plan. Hopefully next time I will be ready to battle the temptations better. I WILL battle the temptations better because I am worthy!
Happy Friday!
Happy Friday to you Debbi!!!
I’m praying for the surgery and your sons arm. and a HUGE HAPPY BIRTHDAY to MOM
i’m so much like you…..I’m a creature of habit, and I need structured routine. Otherwise I lose it.
Lets both work hard on this and take some stress out of our lives!!! Enjoy the sunshine today
by the way, I love your new profile picture!!! beautiful smile

Love ya
Jane
Hmmmmm, don’t like this….Its telling me my comment is awaiting MODERATION!!!!!!!!! so please check your folder Debbi, its there

Sorry to hear about your son’s injury! I hope it is not a broken arm!
I am an ‘according to plan’ gal as well. I lay out my meal plan for the day at least a day or two before. I plan excersises. I plan driving vacations and accomodations. I plan… everything!
But I am also always trying to pull myself back and play it by ear when things start to going every each way.
You might want to check out someinformation on making choices in the fast food chains. Eating in a fast food chain/restaurant once in a while is not a problem if you are aware and… guess what! Planned in advance! Knowing your McDonalds calories, for example can make your choices authomatic. A simple beef burger sans mayo if the sleepyhead at the counter ‘gets it’ is not a diet sincker. Sushi is a good choice generally too for eating out.
Sit-down restaurants are more difficult since a lot of them do not publish menues, but some of them do, and research pays off (for example a stir-fry in Earls packs almost 1,200 cals, you can have 3 burgers in McDonalds for that!) Some fast-food restaurants are actually selling themselves as healthy choice and are very open to the nutrition scrutny (Subway for instance, and many teriyaki places). From the burger places, in US Flick-a-File or whatever has the lowest cals per portion - they don’t have it in Canada though, so I wouldn’t know.
I think there is a whole recent book on the whole dining out strategy, called “Eat This, not THAT!” I was going to check it out from the library one of these days, because the day will come when I know that the plan won’t work, and I will have to drop by a food-court.
you are worth it.
I am in the same boat as you, I just wrote a post to my blog about falling off the wagon for the past two days because me and my husband have been under the weather so weve been eating anything and everything. If I am at home rather than a structured environment like work I find myself wandering much much more. If I can plan my day I do ok, but when the order things is off for whatever reason my will power goes right out the window. I need a little weight loss angel on my shoulder saying “dont eat that!”
I hope his arm is ok sounds like it might be.
I’m the exact same way I have to have a plan and be prepared and if I’m not i panic about what to do until I think of a good solution… like yesterday I was getting ready for work and realized I hadn’t measured out any food to take with me so I went to work with nothing and had to figure something out but you just have to think it out and find a good solution that will work. I settled for a can of low fat low calorie low sodium soup see not a bad choice :] you can do this I think a backup plan sounds like a great idea.

Sorry that your day got all screwed up, but I think it’s a great idea to have a flexible plan B for WHEN it happens… I’d also love to go with IF, but realistically, it’s when!!
My life has been in chaos for so long, EVERY plan is a plan B, and I have to go to choice C when that goes awry!!
I AM A PLANNER TOO IF YOU FIND THE KEY TO NOT BEING LIKE THIS PLEASE SHARE I SOMETIMES GET ON MY OWN NERVES WITH ALL THE PLANNING
Hey girl,
A back up plan sounds great. Someone said look up calories ahead of time for eating out…good idea–but for someone like me…forget what it said as soon as I close it out! lol. So, you might grab ya a pen and little spiral to carry in your purse–write a few basic calorie count for your favorite foods and have it there in case something happens. Also, you can put little notes to yourself….like–DONT PANIC lol.
Sounds like your son’s arm is gonna be ok–but ouch!
You know what…girl you are tougher then you believe so you just hang in there.
