What’s Your Simple Pleasure?

One of my simple pleasures recently is my electric blanket. It sucked getting into a big cold lonely bed. But I put that blanket on and I crank it up before bed so that when I climb beneath the Civers (as Lucy’s cousin Ernie said) it is toasty warm. It is a simple thing but it brings pleasure. Especially on nights like last night where the wind just howled all night…creaking the siding and gutters. Its a warm 11 degrees this morning. Wind chill takes us below 0 tho…Brrrrr!

As you go through your day, find those little things that bring a smile to your face. Especially this time of year. There are so many things that can frustrate…like angry, nasty shoppers. But how about the one person that smiles and says, you go ahead of me.

You may need to slow down and take a moment to look around…but do it. See how many simple things bring a pleasant smile or warm feeling to your heart. And then take it a step further. Bring that feeling to someone else…make it a stranger. Let someone have the closer parking spot. Compliment someone on their appearance. Give your child a hug and a tickle out of the blue.

Tell me your recent simple pleasure…or as I like to call them little happies…

My stepkids are with me and my boyfriend this week, so I have a LOT of simple pleasures right now :) Joking, laughing, tickling, hearing “I love you”, watching them try to work out with me, watching them cuddle up with their dad, etc.

I try to always be grateful for these things, the things that really matter.

I havent had a “simple pleasure” or a “little happies” for a good while now. I’ll try to take more notice over the next while and see if I notice something.

    Hey girl,
I think this is a great post! We need these reminders. I just read a article about making a beauty box…putting those little treasures in there that you smile…it encourages us to look around and find those beautiful things that touch our hearts.
    Hugs!!
By the way, read your comment..good for you for rocking it!! I did the same last night…ooohhh my legs and abs didnt know what hit them. I did my regular workout for lower body and a kick boxing type dvd…made it like 15-20 minutes!! I know what you mean about dragging that sore body to bed lol.
    Love ya girl…Debbie

Oh gosh! I have so many of them! Lately, my simple pleasure is sitting down and working on our 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle. The whole family gets in on it too, so it’s together time for us. It’s a tradition we started when my husband and I got married. We break open a new puzzle every year on Thanksgiving weekend. We are on our 3rd one right now for this season. FUN!

No wonder I don’t have time for TV. LOL

I loved your blog. Made me feel warm and fuzzy all over. :)

    Hugggggggggggggs,
    Shan
